# Time tracking

> Clock in and out, track breaks, and review and approve your team's timesheets.

Time tracking is a punch clock for you and your crew, with a review and approval flow for managers. Open **Team → Time & payroll** as an owner or admin. Crew members see the same Team tab as **Time tracking**.

<Note>
  To clock in, your login has to be linked to an employee record. If you see an empty state asking about that, an owner or admin needs to connect your account to your employee record.
</Note>

## Clock in and out

<Steps>
  <Step title="Clock in">
    Starts your shift. A live counter shows time worked, excluding breaks.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Take a break">
    Start and end breaks during your shift. Break time is excluded from your worked total.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Add notes">
    Jot shift notes if you need to.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Clock out">
    Ends the shift and files the entry.
  </Step>
</Steps>

Tiles show your status, today's hours, and this week's. Your day-by-day history shows each entry with its status: **pending**, **approved**, or **rejected**. You can delete your own entries until they're approved.

## Fixing your hours: My timesheets

Your own hours history lives under **My timesheets**. You can't silently edit a past entry; you request a change and a manager approves it:

* **Request correction**: propose new times and notes on an existing entry, with a required reason.
* **Request missed shift**: submit a brand-new entry you forgot to clock.

Nothing changes until a manager approves it. You can have one pending request per entry.

## Reviewing the team (managers)

If you have the timesheet-review permission, a **Review** toggle appears, along with a live "currently clocked in" panel. The review area has three tabs:

* **Pending**: approve, edit, or reject each completed entry.
* **Approved**: the approved entries, with **Export CSV** for payroll.
* **Requests**: approve or reject the correction and missed-shift requests your crew submits.

Filter by employee and date range.

If an approved entry is a duplicate or should never have been paid, use **Void** and enter a reason. Voiding keeps the original entry and its audit history while removing it from approved payroll exports. Use **Edit** with a reason for a legitimate correction instead.

## Frequently asked

**Why can't I edit a past entry directly?**
Approved hours are payroll records. To change one, submit a correction request and a manager approves it, which keeps an honest trail.

**Who can review timesheets?**
Anyone with the review permission. It's granted by role, separate from being able to clock in.

**Where do I export hours for payroll?**
The Approved tab of the Review area has a CSV export.

On mobile, exports are created only in the app's private cache and handed to the device share sheet. They are not uploaded to a public link.
