# Jobs and scheduling

> How jobs, Calendar, crew shifts, and recurring work fit together in ShineCRM.

ShineCRM separates the work you promise a customer from the availability of the people doing it. A **job** holds the customer, services, time, crew, and work notes. **Calendar** shows scheduled work. **Scheduling** manages employee shifts.

## From estimate to completed work

Start with an accepted [estimate](https://docs.shinecx.com/guides/estimates.md) or create a job directly. Choose the customer, service lines, time, employees, and vehicles. On the day, the crew can record **On my way**, **Start job**, and **End job**. Create the invoice from the job when you are ready to bill it.

Customer reminders are configured on the job. Sending a booking or cancellation confirmation opens a composer for you to review before sending. See the jobs guide for cancellation and reminder behavior.

## Recurring work

Use [recurring services](https://docs.shinecx.com/guides/recurring-services.md) for repeating customer commitments. Completing a linked job advances the next-due date and visit history. This tracks the work; you invoice visits through the normal invoice flow.

## Frequently asked

**Is an employee shift a customer booking?**
No. Shifts describe when a team member works. Jobs describe the customer work assigned to them.
