# Message rewriter

> Polish a text or email draft before you send it, tuned to the channel.

The message rewriter is the "clean up my draft" button inside a conversation. You type a rough message, tap **Rewrite with AI**, and it returns a tidier version tuned to the channel. It runs only when [Suds AI](/guides/ai/suds-ai) is on.

## When to use it

Use it when you've already typed something and want the tone, grammar, and length cleaned up. It works from your draft. It's instructed to fix the writing while preserving your facts, not to add new information.

## Where to find it

In a conversation, open the composer's plus menu and choose **Rewrite with AI**. On the web dashboard, be on the **SMS** or **Email** tab (not **Both**), so it knows which style to write for.

## How it adapts to the channel

**Text:**

* Tight, usually a sentence or two
* No formal greeting or sign-off
* Conversational, first-name basis

**Email:**

* Paragraphs are fine for readability
* A natural greeting and sign-off only if your draft had one
* No subject line (that's handled separately)
* No signature block (the app adds yours)

## What it preserves

It's instructed to keep your facts exactly as written, including prices, dates, addresses, names, and links (review links, payment links). It fixes tone, grammar, awkward phrasing, and typos, and returns just the rewritten message with no commentary.

## Usage

Rewrites count toward your AI usage, which you can see in tokens and requests under **Settings then Usage**.
